Robinhood links 29 million app users to Ripple’s XRP Ledger
Quick Take
- Robinhood expects RLUSD in its app later in 2026 under its Ripple agreement, with eligible jurisdictions still undisclosed.
- Bitstamp announced RLUSD trading on Ethereum in January 2025, so the new agreement expands an existing exchange relationship.
- Planned XRP Ledger settlement and treasury integration extend the partnership, but the announcement gives no institutional settlement start date.
Robinhood expects to add Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin to its app later in 2026 under an agreement announced Oct. 27 that also includes plans for institutional settlement on the XRP Ledger.
The planned app rollout would give customers another way to access RLUSD, though the announcement specifies neither a launch date nor which countries or states will be eligible. Those details will determine which Robinhood customers can use the token.
The agreement expands a relationship with an established trading venue. Ripple said RLUSD was already live on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp by Robinhood when it announced the partnership.
From exchange access to institutional settlement
Bitstamp announced its RLUSD listing on Jan. 8, 2025, using the Ethereum network. Its notice listed trading pairs against the euro, US dollar, USDT, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP, while excluding the EU and warning that not every pair was available in every jurisdiction.
The October agreement builds on that exchange access with a planned Robinhood app rollout and a separate institutional settlement use.
Bitstamp’s listing notice described backing by cash and cash equivalents and support for RLUSD on both Ethereum and the XRP Ledger, while specifying that its own listing then used Ethereum.
Bitstamp’s historical Ethereum trading and the planned XRP Ledger settlement service have separate timelines. The January 2025 EU exclusion also provides no eligibility answer for Robinhood’s future app rollout.
Robinhood plans to use RLUSD on the XRP Ledger for institutional settlement of transactions between financial firms across Bitstamp’s institutional business. Ripple’s announcement does not say when the service will begin or how much it will settle, leaving the intended scale unresolved.

Robinhood also plans to integrate Ripple Treasury for its own cash and liquidity management, forecasting, payments, risk management, and intercompany netting, which offsets amounts owed between parts of the company.
That addresses the company’s financial operations, a separate part of the agreement from customer access to RLUSD.
Ripple Prime provides Bitstamp with lending and margin financing across roughly 20 digital assets and gives Prime clients access to Bitstamp spot trading. Prime support for Bitstamp perpetual futures is planned for later in 2026.
For Robinhood app customers, the next milestone is a launch notice specifying eligibility and supported RLUSD functions. For institutions, a settlement start date and reported activity would show how far the agreement has moved into operation.
