Former Hack VC partner Hsin-Ju Chuang found dead following public dispute with the firm

“I've decided I'd rather take $0 than accept a settlement that requires me to stay silent about what happened to me,” she said in that post, adding that she'd fired her lawyers and would be releasing all the evidence from her time at Hack VC on Aug. 26.

Chuang alleged, at the time, that she had been required to work through a serious medical emergency, faced threats and intimidation when she sought to leave, and later had problems with health-insurance coverage.

The allegations have yet to be independently verified. And as of press time, no connection between the timing of Chuang’s post and her death has been established.

In an Aug. 23 post, Hack VC said its “understanding of events differs materially” from Chuang’s account in a post now removed from Hack VC’s X account.

A Hack VC spokesperson told CoinDeskon Wednesday that the post was removed after responses directed at Chuang became increasingly hostile. The firm did not want its statement to contribute to further attention or negativity toward her, the spokesperson said.

“We have not spoken to her directly for over 10 months, and we are not aware of the circumstances surrounding her death,” Hack co-founder Alexander Pack said on X on Wednesday. “We have no further information and only wish to ask everyone to be respectful of those who are grieving.”
